I got my material kit and it is beautiful!
I notice you mention the book Learn to applique.    I have your book Favorite Techniques.     Does the other book go into more detail on using the Heat and Bond?   I am new at this.
Thanks,
Lynda

OH.... I cannot decide on fabrics!  Think I will just go head and do it and if I don't like it....well I can do another Smiley  Plus I cannot decide on a light background or a dark??  Hmmm guess I could always make both?  Or should I just flip a coin? Undecided
Never had this problem deciding before....must be this nasty cold I'm still fighting. AHHH-chooooo!

Don't have the nice Aurifil thread for the detailing, but I will work my best with what I have ....guess that should be on my next "wish list"? Roll Eyes

Lynda my learn to applique is ALL how i do fusible applique... the favorite techniques is a collection of other things I do...

feel better Shirley... it's the cold that  won't let you decide.. just pick one thing and if you want.. make a 2nd block in another color to do a test!

Finally got my block posted. It isn't sewn down yet I am trying to create a pile of hand work to do while my daughter is in SAT/STAR tests next month.  I home school but part of the curriculum is to have her take the tests each year. Since it isn't just a drop them off at school thing I have to have something to do while waiting around for 8 hours a day for 5 days. I love how it came out I can't wait to see the next block.

It started in the early 90's while I was in Bristol TN guild. Those were fun days but alas the same politics in that guild drove me away. It happens. But I'm not willing to put up with it in my leisure and I once had to in my business life. No sireee. I'm old enough to say NO more! Wink

Oh good golly!!!  I checked tracking earlier and realized that my order from Pat had arrived at the post office TODAY!!!  Grin

Shall I tell you that it's raining raining raining here and still I told DH that I was headed to the post office.  He offered for himself and Brie (our poodle) to go with us, so he ended up driving.  What a nice trip we had!

Everything was there:
1. 3 lg spools of 50 wt Aurifil from Pat (you can now get it directly from her - check to see what she has).  I got the 1147 (green) and 2230 (peach) for use in Meadow Breeze as well as 2340
2. The Quilter's Pocket Reference Book - how did I EVER do without that?
3. Scrap-Basket Surprises book by Kim Brackett
4. Pat's Camera, Color, Quilt book
AND
5. my Meadow Breeze Applique Kit

I'll be spending my evening sitting in the living room gazing at all the pretties.

Hugs everyone!!  Doing my Snoopy Dance!   Roll Eyes  Sheer satisfaction!!!

i looked up National Quilt Day history
http://nqaquilts.org/nqday/

It was started by the National Quilt Association (NQA) in 1991
"The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991. Their members passed a resolution at the 22and Annual Show in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 1991. "

Guess KY either started it the same time or was an early adopter and picked up on it.. You may have had NQA members in your group.

Good for you Lisa!!! Enjoy!!!
