The sixth annual show, held in the stained-glass sanctuary of Auburn’s First Presbyterian Church Saturday featured nearly 100 quilts and other handmade crafts for viewers’ enjoyment. And from the relaxed look quilted across the many guests’ faces, it seemed the charge-free show was well received.
Twenty minutes into the four-hour event, dozens of attendees weaved between First Presbyterian’s wooden pews, oohing and aahing compliments for the quality quilts and crafts on display. Genevieve Salvatore, of Auburn, was among the admirers’ ranks.
Bending down to examine a particularly colorful quilt, Salvatore gently touched her fingers to fabric, smiling in approval of the quilter’s craftsmanship. As a 15-year quilting veteran, Salvatore knows a good quilt when she sees one. And for Salvatore, the “Winter Wonderland of Quilts” show provided plenty to see.
“I like it,” she said. “The quilts are touchable, not artsy.”
