Quilting guild contributes labors of love

You'd be hard pressed to find a more giving group than the Quilt Lovers Guild.

Its members donate time, talent and materials to create quilts they give away to people in need.

"It's just a good feeling," said member Clara Poe of Tornado. "You just know somebody is going to appreciate them."

Poe, 75, a retired nurse anesthetist, said she also enjoys the camaraderie of the group.

Members from Putnam, Kanawha and Cabell counties meet at 10 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at Church of Christ on Main Street in Hurricane. During the monthly meeting, they have lunch and work on projects. Smaller groups gather in homes to keep projects moving along.

The number of projects is staggering.
