To everyone in they of her I hope you ready.  Pat I know you live fairly close. What are they saying about your area?

I am between Philly and New York so it is anyone's guess.

I have my hand stitching, books to read and games and Galaxy along with cell phone ready to go!  We do not need anything else but I do want milk for my cereal.

Thinking about ice for our cooler.  The cars will have fuel and my truck will be moved away from areas where a tree could fall on it,  LOL

Are you ready?  Am I forgetting anything?

I don't think it is going to be that bad up here in NJ. We got a call from the Berkely mayor (recorded) saying all the prep that was done by the city for the storm. My goodness. It will be a storm and yes the wind will be terrible, but I don't think it will be a hurricane by the time it gets here. It needs warm water. Here the trade current is out to sea. If the electric goes out, well that's another thing. DD has gas cooking. Breathe!

Sharon we are hearing NJ will get hit much worse than us.

We just hope to keep electric.. but are ready if it does go out. We've never lost it for more than a day.. our lines are mostly underground.

Pat, I lived through several probably 5 hurricanes when I lived in Delray Beach FL. We were out of electric for 5 days once. We ate at restaurants b/c they wanted to get rid of food before it spoiled. We do have flashlights, batteries, radio, camp cook stove. DD cooks w/gas. It's less bothersome than the snow we have had b/c once it travel through the roads are clear and dry and the sun comes out. It's an amazing strong phenomena, but in this day and age with all the news, it's just bothersome. They are predicting it gone by SUn late afternoon/evening. The gambling will be shut down today and AC will be closed and the srs. might rebel. No that would be a threat. Just be smart. Life is more important than things. I will miss my sewing machines if the eletric goes off. The parkway will be closed as of 8 tonight.

I have a pack of those water absorbing crystals - all soaked in a gallon of water and bagged in the freezer - if the power goes out, I'll move the perishables into the cooler with those bags and keep it all closed... but I'm doubting it will reach this far west...  I'm just worried about my folks down around Phila, SC, and NJ...

soooo cracking up!!  You're invited here also - we'll have a hurricane party!!

Lots of times hurrincanes are fierce winds, but never under estimate what they can do.  If you dodge a bullet, be thankful, but prepared!

Seriously, IF anyone is in an area where they're calling for mandatory evac, do it before it's too late! I'm NOT going to no funerals.
