I finally get the big sunny room that I have waited 5 years for. Why does it keep getting smaller?  DH says that I have to keep this large thing that looks like postal bins.  Ok, I can deal with, have found a way to use it.

Then he says that I need to move the computer desk in.  Sigh...Ok, I can put a sewing machine that can be used to embroider on it.  Now I have to move the desk top computer in so he can have the desk which I have meant to clear off so he can use it instead of the dresser.  It only held the monitor anyway.

The large room is now getting smaller with no place to put a pretty, comfy chair in front of the slider.  Sigh!

So much stuff !  Where does it all come from?  I swear those fat 1/4's and worms are reproducing while I sleep.  Since  I can't sleep anyways, I have been sitting on the floor going through tubs of stuff and sorting through it.  Oh no! The dogs hear me and one starts barking.  I try to be quiet but the Chi knows now that I am awake.  Sigh!

Oh well enough complaining for now.  The chi just peed on the floor!  I wish the rain would stop so I can put both dogs out.

My husband and I are in the process of buying a smaller house.  For me, that means losing two bedrooms I have had for sewing and quilting and combining everything into one room in the new house. (Having all that room has been a luxury, which I will really miss!) For one thing, my George machine and table takes up a third of one bedroom.  It will be a big challenge for me, I think, to use up fabric and batting, give away quilting books and magazines to a nearby guild, etc. So I can see myself sharing some of the "issues" you have, Candy!

My small room has gotten smaller and smaller over the years.  No way we are moving to a smaller house - we have 4 bedrooms and use them all with just the 2 of us.  Shocked

the good news/bad news is that my half of the basement got a lot smaller when I bought my quilter last year! Roll Eyes
But I'm lucky  Huh Undecided , both my daughters have moved out this year and I've taken over the bigger bedroom (I keep the smaller one set up for DGS when he visits)  Still have a bed and dresser in the big bedroom, but I also have been able to set up shelves with boxes of fabric scraps and filled the closet with boxes of fabric and kits.  I have a lot of things to sort through and decide what to keep and what and where to get rid of.  sigh

My original room in my other house was on the third floor, and about 18 x 30.  I called it my ivory tower and at xmas it was the north pole.

When I moved here I had what I thought was an 8 x 10 room.  Nope, found out the it was 8 x 6.   I have fabric 2 thirds of the top shelf around our walk-in closet stacked with fabric. Beneath on one side I have a lateral file that has bolts upright on top of it and stacks piled in front of the bolts.  It has 2 drawers and I know they are both full but I forgot with what.  Then I moved more stuff into our bedroom.  I have a 5 drawer lateral file cabinet that was full of books and supplies.  Then DH found a 4 drawer open type of thing which I quickly filled.  I just realized that I have stuff under my side of the bed.

Like you, I have been going through things to pass on to my guild.  We have a freebie table every month.  However, I will NOT give up by books, kits and scissors that I got from Pat.

you can do it! Just one step at a time.. focus on one thing at a time. And remember just because you own it does not mean it is the best thing to use. Sometimes it is better to sell what you have and get the right furniture to do the job!

I live in a VERY small house. And we both work here and run the business. if something comes in... something has to go out now!  (ps.. no extra bedrooms for years.. visitors stay at the nice hotels in the area.. wink!)

Candy, can some of the stuff (not yours) find it's way to HIS garage??
My room also is small and my ceiling is slanted, as I sew in the loft - I will try to take photos soon, if no one critiques!!  It's my little nest - we live on Swallows Creek Rd, (like a bird) thus my title.

Remember the old quilt frames of long ago on the pulleys - what if.... you make one, put all you stuff on it and crank that baby UP!!!  Outta of the way!!!!   LOL!!!

Candy, are you saying that we are married to the same man?  I didn't know.

Just kidding, your hubby sounds just like mine.  Everything he doesn't know what to do with, goes in my sewing room, but you'd better keep all that nonsense stuff out of MY basement!  (He says).  LOL.

A quilt frame on the ceiling, what a cool idea.  He won't for it since he does not want to put holes in the walls.   Grin  Wait until he takes down the boards in my old room.  BIG holes will be there.

Pat, I am finding that I can almost hide in the room, turn up the stereo so I don't hear him.  :-)  It is becoming a secret hiding space for me.

Ha, ha, we are moving from a 5-bedroom to a 4-bedroom house, but the bedrooms are smaller.  We have to "save" two of the bedrooms for the kids whenever they come back from college during breaks and holidays.  We also have two family rooms right now, but will only have one in the new house.   My husband has a table saw and other woodworking equipment, so HE needs his own space for HIS hobby, which will be down in the basement area.
Now I am thinking I will take part of the family room for my quilting.  I think there may be more room for me, George, and Nina (Bernina) to spread out.  Plus I can look out at the lake when I need to rest my eyes.  This is part of the reason we are moving:  my husband wanted a house on a lake so he can go kayaking more easily and frequently!
