As Linda Davis' only child, Molly gets ready to fly from the nest and head to college, Linda finds she is divided between being thrilled for her daughter's bright future and being reluctant to actually push her darling from the nest. Not only is she worried for Molly, Linda is worried for herself. For years, her identity has been as wife and mother, but now that her mothering duties are coming to an end, what is in store for her own future?

In her latest book, "The Goodbye Quilt," best-selling author Susan Wiggs pulls on the heartstrings of mothers everywhere with an enchanting story of love, loss and fondly held memories.

To lessen the heartache of letting go, Linda and Molly decide to drive cross-country to move Molly into her dorm. As they make their way from Wyoming to the East Coast, Linda takes along the memory quilt that she has been working on, intending to finish up the cover made from snips and scraps that represent Molly's childhood. In the process of quilting each piece together, Linda finds it's the memories of a shared life that begin to come together in a way that will keep them both warm in the years to come.
