linda - love your tablerunner and great tutorial!
thea - I believe that was the inner genius in you expressing itself to the world Grin

I love having it hang over the sides of the table. If only I had some Easter fabric. . .

My table is pretty wide, but I can see these working on my end tables downstairs where right now I have a too long wallhanging made by my sis laid out. I can't decide where to hang it! Cheesy

OK, my hip/side hurts so that is my excuse. I don't get how you sew both ends and are still able to turn the thing. What did I miss? No one else seems to have a problem understanding so I'm blaming my pain interfering with my brain. Help me, Obi Wan Kanobi.

You don't sew the ends of the runner until it is time to make the point, Sharon.  Wishing you painfree really soon Kiss

You sew when it is folded in half, then when you turn it - it develops the pointy end and it's all closed up.  Clear as mud?  If you make one & do the steps as you go, it will be easy peasy.   Wink

I believe you, I just don't get it. But I'll make one real soon and go back through the steps. I'm brain dead I guess. My poor clients. LOL

I think I follow how it's done... not quite sure about the point turning part... it goes from step 9 to 13  Huh so I'm missing something, unless it's just misnumbered... but when I actually do it it should become clearer

If you wanted it quilted, I think you could iron on some fusible before sewing the tube and lightly quilt it after turning.

hm, it was misnumbered - It had numbered them with each sentence, and I thought I had taken them out.
Not sure how the the points would be if you used the iron on fleece, as it would doubled in that area, but once you make one, you could probable figure it out - however, not all fabric is the same width.

I saw a demo of these table runners at Beverly's in Fair Oaks last fall.  They were calling it the 20 minute table runner.   I made three of them for gifts, but figuring out the ends made it take a little longer for me.

When buying fabric for the runners, I selected two Christmas fabrics and the third was to be a birthday gift for a friend who had just returned from her first trip to Paris, so I picked the black and white Eiffel tower fabric for the third.  For the Eiffel tower and one Christmas print I liked the contrast of a diagonal stripe for the 1/2 yard backing piece.   I bought a black and white stripe for the Eiffel tower and a red and white stripe for one of the Christmas prints.

Sewing the ends, I was concerned about matching the stripes.  They were gifts, so I wanted them to be PERFECT!!  :O)   I pinned the ends as I was going to sew them, and turned them to see how they were going to look.  Wow! was I glad I did that!   I matched up the stripes, but they were wayyyy too much!   Just too "busy" on the ends.  Those stripes almost hurt my eyes. . .   So, I finally came up with an easy solution.  Preparing the ends for sewing I folded the tube with the 1/2 yard backing on the INSIDE of the fold, rather than the outside.   Turning the tube to the opposite side brought the triangle piece of the 1/3 yard fabric around to the back on each end when it was turned and I liked it much better.

So, when you are sewing the ends, my advice is, play around with it and pin or baste the ends and preview the look before sewing to see what you prefer.
