Moda Fabrics has developed a line of fabrics for QOV.  They are asking quilters to make "just one star" using their fabric so they can make 100 quilts in one day.  Check out the link to see if it interests you.

I live near 3 Navy bases, 1 Air Force and 2 Army so I am very aware of the needs of our military and am always ready to lend a hand if possible.  My parents both served in WWII - my dad was at Iwo Jima and my mom served at Bethesda Naval Medical Center.  My older brother did 2.5 tours in Viet Nam and the idiot (ex-husband) had a 31 year Naval Career.
I f you check out  my profile pic - I got to go on a flight line and had a photo op with a real Navy jet.  The CO of the squadron's wife has a Mini so it was a Mini Op day on the flight line!

Laurie thanks for the info. My Dad had 21 years in the Navy. He served in Korea and then in Nam where he was injured.

When we lived in Hawaii we were able to board an aircraft carrier and a sub. The first year we lived there we had Thanksgiving on the ship my Dad was assigned to. Very interesting experiences.

Laurie, OMG, I was going to one of the other forums to post my experience this am with the Coatesville VA Hospital Shocked And, here you have this forum. My friend, Delores, who pieces the quilt tops & I went to the hosp. this am for a presentation of QOVs'. What a moving experience Wink We were able to present the quilts to 6 patients in the hospice division & then took 17 to the womens unit. What an awesome experience that was for us. They were so appreciative of the quilts. It truly humbled me to be able to do such a small thing for them. We were not able to take any pics. but their photographer took a couple of us & will e-mail them to me. When he does (and he got a quilt of valor too) I will post them. I urge all of you to do a quilt for a vet. If you don't have a vet, let me know. This hospital has a minimum of 470 patients at any given time. And a couple of them said they wanted a quilt. I felt bad that we didn't have one for every one of them Sad Back to the quilting machine. Sorry if this is long. but I wanted you all to know how much I value the vets & what they are willing to sacrifice for us.

Another FYI - VA hospitals accept books and magazines Smiley.  My book club brings their books to me and I give them to my neighbor's daughter who works at our local VA hospital - she said the womens wing is starting a book club because we are donating many of the same books that they can have their own book club.
Plus family members like having new magazines to read.

a very worthwhile cause for sure!!   I believe I sent you the link also, Dixie, as I knew you were interested in this subject.  Glad your trip was so successful.  Can't wait to see a pic of you with your stacks of donations.  I think that's aa lot for the 2 of you.
Hubby goes to VA in FL, will have to remember to send books with him.  I have made QOV in the past, but will have to get busy with some more.  Wink
