Jennifer Chiaverini's latest novel pieces together the past

In Jennifer Chiaverini’s 16th and latest Elm Creek Quilts novel “The Union Quilters,” the Middleton author continues to delight followers of her series and newcomers alike with a story of how the women of the Elm Creek Valley quilting circle “wield their needles for the Union.” The quilts they sew link the women of this fictional Pennsylvania valley to battlefields, hospitals and prisons during the Civil War.

I love her books. I read the first one when she was publishing a few chapters on line prior to getting it published and anxiously awaited the publication of the book.

I Have not read any of her books yet. From the interview, you can just jump in & read any one of them. They are not chronological. I think our guild library has some of these, will have to check them out. Thanks, Annabelle, for keeping us so informed on the doings in the quilt world Kiss

I have read almost all of her books.  They are so interesting and full of real facts in fictional settings.  Light and comfortable reads.  Kiss

I have requested this book at my local library.  I am #12 on the list so far.  I think it'll take a few months before the book becomes available for me.
If anyone in this group reads it sooner than I do, please let us know if it's a good book (or not) without giving away the whole story.  Cheesy

Women cope with Civil War in 'Union Quilters'

http://www.lvrj.com/blogs/booknook/Women_cope_with_Civil_War_in_Union_Quilters.html?ref=383

The 17th book in the Elm Creek Quilts series, “The Union Quilters” is a deeper look at the original women who began the quilting group. With a sharp eye to detail and historical fact, Chiaverini has combined the stories of the women left behind during war with how the art of quilting allowed them to cope to create an intriguing story that is timely with the 150th anniversary of the Civil War approaching.

This novel is one of Chiaverini’s best works to date.

I had a hard time with the graphic descriptions.  Lived in Virginia for 20+ years.  Drove everyday through the Manassas Battlefield Park to get to work.  Soldiers returning or not returning -- same then and now.....
