We have ruled out dark cabinets, white washed cabinets, green or blue as colors. We want pale but not bland (HUH?). Still thinking. DH has been sorting (he found a package of some mix that was out of date in the 90's. LOL). I eat what he cooks. He is storing used less stuff in boxes and hopefully finding room in the attic for this temp. storage. We had a leak in the attic from the A/C and that is how this all started. The ins. is paying for some but very little of this. We see this as a chance to get halfway what we would like. Well DH really with my final approval. LOL We want a medium counter top. DD has navy and I don't like that around DH who does not wipe up behind himself and if he doesn't see it it may never get wiped up.

Garbage disposal? We needed a "special" permit for it, when we built our house ($$) . The guy says: "Most people just toss it over the rail for the wild animals up here"................ there has been some adjustments to get used to. Let's just say - it's wired, but not hooked up.......... OMG - funny things that jog your memory!! Guess I've gotten along pretty well without it. LOL I might add tho that there weren't even building inspections then, except for the septic tank...............

We couldn't do disposal with a septic in TN either. But we are on city water and sewer.

when we moved in we had funky wallpaper and 70's orange countertops. Stripped the paper and painted walls white. replaced the countertops with white. then I stripped the cabinets and painted ivory and painted walls dark. Now we have cherry laminate cabinets and I'm thinking linen white walls... getting paint in next week or two. This is my first house with garabage disposal... so accustomed to composting that I don't use it often. Yes, I thought being crazy was a prerequisite for being here hm

I have septic tank and garbage disposal. The GP is only for rinsing dishes - everything else goes in trash. As they say, GP is NOT a trash can! I could live without mine! I love my two brushed stainless steel sinks. And, I have the paprika orange counters of 1980 along with the paprika carpet throughout the house. My walls are all ivory and my cabinets are light/med oak. Don't want dark cabinets but I would like lighter counters. Have lots of fun picking colors ladies. My DH says only ivory/white walls! So I decorate with color!

We redid the kitchen a few years back. We have Corian counters and a Corian sink. I love the deep sinks that we have. We have a garbage disposal, but do not use it as it can clog the pipes. Also redid both bathrooms with Corian sounds and counter tops.
I love my new counters and the cabinets. We added an additional double cupboard in the kitchen, which gave more space.
We are planning to make the bonus room a walk-in closet. It is off the laundry room and out bedroom, which was the family room. It cannot be called a bedroom as it does not have closet. The closet in the room actually is the laundry/water heater/furnace area.
Redoing a room, especially the kitchen lifts the spirit in the house.
