I have learned from doing mysteries, some successful and some not that it is vitally important to pay attention to value.  If they say dark be sure it is dark and not medium.  Same with light.

Thanks, Linda, for the update!   I think most everything I can get from my scraps except might have to spruce up the neutrals. Smiley

Was so happy to see that I have all I need.  Was worried about the yellow-greens because I tend to go for the darker colors.  Did find some by digging.  Really looking forward to this mystery!  Now that the fabric is set aside, I guess we have to finish some more UFO's for a few weeks!

How are you guys making out with shopping from your stash for the mystery?

I'm going to go through everything this morning.  I will need some more browns as I have almost none.

I just printed the shopping list... going to browse the stash and see if I have enough pinks & greens - my greens are usually on the blue/aqua side but if there are any yellow greens this is a good time to use them up, so I hope I find enough.

this is going to be much bigger than I usually make, but I'm in serious need of stash busting, so even if it takes 'forever' I'm going to give it a shot.

Go Thea Go!  I, too, need some serious busting of stash, but right now the only thing I may pick up are some neutrals.  Depending on size and amounts I think I can make what I have here work.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Smiley

I'm using the stash shopping as a reward for Busting more UFOs. LOL I know that sounds crazy as a reward, but it works for me. I'm only using stash fabrics for this mystery. It sounds intriguing doesn't it? I swear she makes it the best mysteries of any I've done. I love her attitude.

yes Peroxide is very cheep so just buy a little bottle of it, goes a long ways.  And an eye dropper if you have trouble being steady with your hands.
I pour the peroxide into the cap, lay completely flat on my bed, and dribble it into my ear, with a wad of kleenex to act as a "dam" so its not running down my neck if I miss the hole LOL.  thats why I dribble.  if I miss then I can aim better and once I have the right spot then I dump the whole cap in.  VERY TICKLISH!!!!!  But feels sooooooo good!  I lay there for a while about 15 min and then tilt head to drain it out.

I have been doign t his since childhood because I have chronic ear troubles due to hearing aid.  All the moist stale air inside, and no ventilation, causes for bacterial problems constantly.

OK As for the MYSTERY!!!! Ladies,  be brave and stretch your imagination.   I very rarely follow Bonnies colors exactly.  Because shes more into the folksy americana colors in her scraps, and Im not.   So when she says nutrals, rasberry, green and brown.....Mine would be nutrals, burgundy, hunter and milk chocolate. Or mabe I would go with nutrals, rose pink, sage green, and tan.  Same color s that shes suggesting but in a different track.
She did one a while back where she used bubble gum pink, brown, navy and gold.  I used purple, yellow, green and nutral.  VERY Different but exact same pattern!
Oh if you want inspiration for how people do their mysteries in different colors sign up for quiltville chat at yahoogroups, theres lots of photo albums. I just dont do the chatting part, I click on web only so I dont get the bajillion emails. But I can enjoy reading on the website and lots of photo inspiration.

Carolina Christmas was pulled off shortly after the mystery  because it was going into a book. So when you get the mystery clues, PRINT or SAVE because odds are she will take it down a couple months later!~

Looking forward to what you all are going to do!  We should do a photo album too to compare color and notes!

I would love to do this mystery, but don't want to start another UFO until I clear out some of my inventory... which more than likely won't be until after the holidays as I am busy with customer work right now.  That will also give me time to sort and organize my scrap stash.  I think I'll just lurk  and watch what everyone else does for a while...I don't remember seeing when this will end, so I may be able to start
late and catch up in the new year.

Big question here from a novice to the most experienced.  I am a batik lover and most of my stash is batiks - I do have "regular" quilting fabrics, but my preference are the batiks.  I have only done one quilt where I added a kona cotton to the batiks.  My question does or can one mix batiks with "regular" quilting fabrics in a scrappy quilt?

Maybe the quilt police are going to race to my work and track me down...hmmm...maybe I WANT them too!   Grin  But, I don't see a problem mixing batiks with ANYTHING.  I'm also a batik lover...and I say--if you like it, USE it!
