The very first book I read was Fun with Dick and Jane in kindergarten at Cleveland School in Englewood New Jersey, we took a bus trip to the Englewood library, and I remember getting my first library card.  It was a wonderful experience,  I remember
going with my mother to story hour on Saturday moring at the library on Palisades Avenue, and picking out books, I read Robert McCloskeys'  Make Way for Ducklings
my second book, and The Golden Books were special stories too.   My first story book
was the Mary Poppins in the Park, I just loved that one...

Raising my hand here to say that "yes, I remember Trixie Belden books!"  I had just a few copies that I had bought but they are lost in time. This past summer my brother was at an auction and picked up a box of books from Whitman Publishing that had those great color covers and that thin plastic film that often peeled off as you read the book. There wasn't a Trixie Belden book in the box there were two Donna Parker titles.........."Donna Parker, On Her Own" and "Donna Parker, A Spring to Remember". I can remember reading both of these.  Other titles in the box were "Heidi", "Lassie", "Little Men", "Little Women", "Nurses Who Led the Way", "The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew" and "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm". They are in very good condition and I just love having them on the bookshelf in my green quilty bedroom. It reminds me of those years when I was a young girl and you could curl up with a book and imagine yourself a world away from where you really were at that moment.  I can still curl up with a good book but when you're young the world is at your doorstep and when you're older it's kind of like sitting on the back porch and looking out a well-grown garden. Get my drift?

Oh yes, I remember Trixie Belden. I loved them! I could have sat down and read th entire series at once, but had to wait for them to get published. LOL! Why did it take sooooooooo long for the next book to come out?

Congrats Alda!!!
I never heard of Donna Parker. I will see if the library has them.
Ok has anyone ever read Apple Pie Inn?? I am trying to find that book. I had a signed 1st edition - lost in a house fire back in 1979. I dont remember the author. It is about a poor family selling pies. Duh (hitting myself on the head) I will goggle it LOL LOL

Well I finished the books by Marie and really liked them. I specially liked the " A single thread" book, how she tells about Evelyn moving across the country, starting a new life and then fighting breast cancer on top of everything. I could really relate to that as I am a breast cancer survivor myself and she really did catch the thinking and feelings you have when faced with something like that.
Thank you both for the books
