Well, If you cut on bias, sew the length approx 3/8" then cut (look up making chenille) then cut between the sewings.  It's made with 5 layers but do not cut the center layer.  Then wash - dry..... it "blooms" instead of raveling.  I only know to use only Homespun.

Not sure about the crinkle look

Ann, the homespuns are the same on the front and back - it won't work if it's not........like a "printed" fabric - if you are going to try the chenille.

Was thinking about the crinkle - I made a jacket once that had different techniques on it - or a broomstick skirt (remember those) look that up..... wash or wet the fabric tie it up, and throw it in dryer - I think it will set it.  I used to tie my skirts back when I washed them or  scrunched them and tied in a knot in the draw - HTH Wink

here ya go, Ann - thought you might like a picture.  I tried to separate the grooves so you could see what the original homespun looked like before washing.  Not a great pic, but there is fringe in the foreground.

solid rayons also work well for chenille work - if homespuns just aren't avail.

just don't try it with polyesters - or satins!

remember to post a pic

I once made a scarf with all of his old t shirts and made it like a rag quilt letting all of the edges curl.  I made it striped with all bright colored t shirts.  It was warm, because I doubled the material and it was really soft

Thea, I saw a scarf the other day made with the rayon (solid royal blue) I must say, it was absolutely beautiful and the  softest I have ever felt.  I was surprised how lush and gorgeous it made up!!!  She showed me one she made with printed rayon and not so soft   Wink
