Have you seen the movie Julie and Julia? or read the book?

I ADORED the movie, it was quick paced and left me wanting to learn more about Julia Childs!

the book was a tad too detailed for me, but then I have a hard time with detailed books!

I enjoyed Julie and Julia a lot - I had read the book and couldn't imagine how it could be a movie, but it did turn out well.  I know I wouldn't like to eat most of the food in the French cookbook, but it was great to see the author/main character choose a goal, work hard, and achieve it.

Saw the movie and liked it...went with a bunch of my quilting girlfriends after a monthly guild meeting.  Great chick flick.  Definitely worth seeing.

I just loved the story of Julia and her husband.  Their marriage was just so touching...the one everyone wants for themselves.  I was not so moved by Julie who I wanted to smack when she had her little temper tantrums on the kitchen floor.  Just grow up!!!!  It was a little too much Julie and not enough Julia...but to be expected since it was based on the book Julie wrote.

I was happy that the movie was true to life and didn't try to sugarcoat anything.  Julie never gets to meet Julie in person...Hollywood didn't mess with history.

I also like that they didn't meet..just like in real life!!  Actually I think I DO the 'julie trantrum' in the kitchen sometimes... ROFLOL!!!!

I thought that was hysterical....  chalk it up to a  "hormone moment" and get on with life... hehe!!!

My daughter & I saw the movie a couple of weeks ago ... we LOVED IT !!!
well, loved the Julia / Meryl parts ...  Julie, not so much.  The Julie segments just made me wish for more of Julia.  My 20 yr old daughter felt the same too, which surprised me.  Thought she'd like the younger storyline more
Meryl Streep is just amazing ... ever since Sophies Choice I've adored her - she's the best actress of our generation - hands down, no contest !

I saw the movie a month or so ago and had to find out more.  I just finished reading My Life in France which was fascinating about how she just went out and did it and ignored any opposition and did what she wanted to do in an era when that wasn't the done thing.  Her husband was an amazing creative man as well.  I loved the insight into the relationship with her co-authors it obviously wasn't as harmonious as was portrayed in the movie but they were still life long friends.

I finally got around to renting this movie.  I really enjoyed it too, although I found Julia Child's life much more interesting than Julie's.  I too want to read more about Julia's life overseas.  But in reality, most of us have lives like Julie's--work in an office, come home, and try to do something creative in our spare time.  I thought it was funny that one of the "friends" she didn't really like was named Annabelle.
