Several people are working on CRAZY wool blocks from Jo Ann Mulary's Wool Crazy book... but maybe you have a pincushion or penny rug you are doing (or want to do) in wool. Or maybe you even rug hook! Here is the place to chat ALL THINGS WOOL! Jo Ann's website for inspiration http://woolcrazy-jam.blogspot.com/

Pat this is perfect. I am working on a wool quilt. It is Primitive Gatherings "Folk Art Album" by Lisa Hoefler Bongean. I have been working for over a year. It has 12 blocks. I have 4 finished so far. It is a whole new concept for me. Some of my friends talked me into it. I have an idea to break it down into 3 wall hangings. I have 3 kids. This way I may be able to get it into something I could work for. Have you seen this one? are you going to make a flicker to put up pictures? Thanks for this work along. Lynda

I would like to know how to tell if a wool fabric that you buy online or in a shop has been washed...I kinda know when it has been felted, but washed??? and isn't it supposed to be washed before using for applique? What about scraps that someone gives you, can they just be washed by hand and laid out to dry? I like the look of wool applique but haven't tried it yet...oh, by the way I don't need another obsession!!!

Now to decide on a project! Lynda, that folk art album is beautiful. I love all of her patterns. I bought a pattern from them that I could start. Hmmm. tough decisions!

I just posted my picture on the flickr site. This is mine so far. I didn't have any wool so I started one in flannel. It will make a cute pillow when it is finished. I just love doing it. It is very addicting. I have started collecting wool, and got the wool crazy book. I like that you put all the pictures of the beginning steps

--be sure you are talking 100% wool and not 'wool felt' which is maybe 30% wool. That will NOT be washed --any hand dyed wool will have been washed and felted in the process of dying it. --any wool off the bolt will NOT be washed. Do you have an few examples of sites you want to buy wool at? I can read what they say and translate!

you can always wash the scraps, but it ONLY felts and shrinks with hot water and AGGITATION
And Not all wool felts.. wool has different weaves, different weights.. it's nothing like buying cotton.

when you do show us.. or just email them to ask... that is really the only way to know what you are getting.. and be VERY sure you are getting 100% wool... as many places sell wool felt. That costs about the same as cotton.. wool is about double

Went to some garage sales yesterday and scored a grey wool coat for $3 and a men's houndstooth jacket that I think is wool for 25 cents. Score. I continue my quest.
