Had back surgery July 19, so my FIU project status has halted, but I have the batting and backing to finish and tie a king size around the world quilt which reminds me of the caribbean!  It's the first thing I'm going to do when I can, along with my Sylvia's Bridal block of the month quilt which I am a couple of months behind now.

I'm going back and forth between projects...more fun that way!!  I just put photos of the baby quilt I am working on...my blog carylquilts.blogspot. com
I'm also in a 9 patch swap of 1800 reproduction fabrics.  I've never been in a swap before and it is fun so far....I have my plan for meeting the deadline!!
I am working full time right now so I am working on these projects and others any chance I have.  I just haven't had much time for checking this forum and blogs and facebook!!

I'm still plugging away on my crib quilts.  I stretched and pin basted 3 of them yesterday, #4 is today.  I have the stencils cut for marking the design on the first one, I'll cut the stencils for #2 today after I pin baste the last baby quilt top.  I'll do roses and leafy vines on the baby girl pink one, sailboats and waves and sun on the baby boy blue quilt; with some outline quilting as well on those.   I have baby hands and hearts for another, and some abstracts; haven't completely decided on the design for the other 2 crib quilts.   BTW, the best thing for cutting stencils that I have tried is a small woodburning tool with an exacto blade.  Think, hot knife, butter.

We were away for a week visiting my son and his fiance in Denver, what a fun place Denver is.   Went to the King Tut exhibit, fascinating.   The kids took us to the small mountain resort where they will be having their wedding next year, it was perfect for them.   Spent 1/2 the week in Denver then off to my mother-in-law's in western NE.  She is 86, a fabulous quilter, quite the artist in several mediums, has all her wits and boy are they sharp.   Love her.  We helped her with yard and household projects she was not able to do on her own.

My mother-in-law took me through her own FIU projects while hubs and I were there -- beautiful stuff.  She is making blocks for a quilt for one of her grand daughters.   She asked me to finish it for Michelle if my m-in-l died before it was finished -- at 86, you never know -- and I said absolutely I will do that.

I posted somewhere here that I lost my single rectangle blocks. I found them Up the cat (I'm sure) dragged them onto a pile of fabric on the floor. Yes, I need to clean up the studio. Ain't gonna do that on my day off. Grin
