Yeah, I tried to find all the pies and applique patterns, but gave up. It was hard and I finally figured out it was the same pie shapes in differnt colors. HA! I can do cloth pies, just not the real thing.

I don't have a coffee cake recipe Mary... but yours looks fabulous!! In NJ we had 'crumb cake' but I didn't make it. The sour cream coffee cake did look like yours when done. yum yum!

Pat, I didn't realize that you would also like to make yeast breads. I have a couple books that I really like, one it particular is: Ultimate Bread by Eric Treuille. It has all kinds of yeast breads: Bagels, Filled Focaccia, stramboli, Nan, Pita, tortillas. It's one of my favorite books (well, I also REALLY like the King Arthur Flour book). Amazon has it for 7.60 - 9.30.
Any ideas for what you will make next?
Karen

Here is the recipe for Chewy Chipit Delights
CHEWY CHIPIT DELIGHTS
Cream together:
1 cup brick margarine (do not use soft!) (In Canada, a brick of margarine is 1 lb or 454 grams) 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla
Add and mix well:
2 cups flour 3/4 - 1 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
Press into a 9 x 13 baking pan and bake at 350F for 12 - 15 minutes.
I use a whole brick of margarine and double the rest of the ingredients for two 9 x 13 pans...while you're baking, you might as well make a big batch and they freeze well. They store best in a tin...I used to put them in a tupperware container, but they don't keep as well that way. I use the Our Compliments brick margarine from Price Chopper or Foodland. And, it tastes best with 'real' chocolate chips which I get at Briwood. But, cocoa chips work too. And, while you're at it, might as well use real vanilla too :-)
The original recipe says to bake them 25 minutes, but I found that way too much...we like our cookies soft, so I experimented with baking them just until the edges of the squares are brown and the center is set...they keep baking a bit after they are out of the oven. You have to check with your oven to get them just right. I have a gas oven so, if yours is electric, try the shorter time and you can always bake it longer :-).

Sounds like they are kind of like a brownie...?? I still have not gotten used to cooking here in higher altitude. And I agree - if you re gonna bake 'em, use the real thing!! Thanks for sharing this.
