Tell us what book(s) you are reading right now...

I started 'Julie and Julia' this winter.. but got stalled when she was too detailed on the food that was kind of 'gross'... but I hear the movie is FABULOUS! I might see if my step mom wants to go... I think it's a chick flick..what do you think?

I just finished 3 books LOL Jenifer Donnelly's "Tea Rose" and "Winter Rose", can't wait for the 3rd one in this series. I also just finished Emilie's "Beautiful Lies" which gave me a big inspirational boost for a challenge I've been stalled on.
I go to the library tomorrow any suggestions?

Hi Pat, I have a forum question, when the other GBC site is closed down, will the posts still be archived somewhere? I haven't been very good about writing down peoples suggestions. Is there a place here for files? Thanks to you and Gregg for getting us all on board.

Linda I had not planned to archive the comments.. there are so many comments. Lots are repeats.. many 'me too'...  When I delete Yahoo they are gone  Do you have time to go through and make a book suggestion list?

If not I can ask if anyone on the group would like to read through and make a suggestion list.  Or maybe someone has kept track.. wouldn't THAT be dandy!!

Sister's Choice is a lovely summer read that I just finished this past weekend. I do want to read Julia and Julia before I see the movie. Seeing the movie first usually ruins the book for me.
I loved reading Time Traveler's Wife and would highly recommend reading it before seeing the movie as well. It is quite unique and imaginative.    Wink

I am currently wading through Julie and Julia - it does bog down but I read it in spurts between Blogging for Bliss, The Farm Chicks cookbook, and the Gee's Bend book.  Waiting in the wings is My Life in France by Julia Child as I have enjoyed the glimpses into her life that thread through Julie.  So far this summer, the best reads have been Marie Bostwick's threads books - quick and entertaining.  Always looking for suggestions...

Well I like a good light mystery. My fav. author is Elizabeth Peters (AKA Barbara Michaels and Barbara Mertz.) I love her Amelia Peobody Emerson series. I read myself to sleep every night and right now I reading one of Rumpole's series by John Mortimer. It's just OK. The books are a series of short stories that do reflect back on previous stories, there is some light humor, but it is British and sometimes the meaning gets lost in translation. LOL

I am a big Sherlock Holmes fan and just finished The language of bees by Laurie R. King.  It is the 9th in her Sherlock Holmes series and I can't wait for the next.

I love Lorna Landvik and will have to check out her lastest book. Right now I am reading Hot Six from the series by Janet Evanovich. The books are so funny...you will never feel like your day is worse than Stephanie Plum's day.

I tried to read a few books by Jodi Picolt this summer. Which books of hers have you liked?

I am currently reading Sandra Dallas'  "The Persian Pickle Club" and it's a nice light read about small town Kansas quilters in the 1930's.

I think Julie and Julia would be a good read to kick off the MashUp GBC!  Light read, can keep each other motivated.  I haven't seen the movie but I've heard that guys are enjoying it as well.

I just finished Duma Key by Stephen King and was pleasantly surprised that he seems to be writing like he did before he had his accident again.  Thought he'd lost his touch there for a while.
I start Nora Roberts Night Tales (Night Shift and Night Shadows) series last night and couldn't put the darn thing down.
