I see others do it. I followed the directions in the help section under posting. I inserted the location of the photo between the two bracketed imag thing-ies. But no photo. What did I do wrong? How do I correct this?

Linda you just need to CLICK the + sign below the message box when writing a message... then you get the view I'm posting a photo of... load the picture from your computer like you do other places.

Note that your photo needs to be under 110kb to upload to QuiltMashUp.
There is a really easy online photo editing site you can use to adjust it and reduce the size if need be.

http://www.picnik.com/

You can reduce the size of your photo and it tells you how big it is. Try their DEMO  photo to see how it works. See this post on how to use Picnik
http://quiltmashup.com/index.php/topic,122.msg1003.html#msg1003

After you get your photo in your post be sure to click this small image so you can see it larger. Images can be up to 110kb in size..

I added it to my reply under "what are you working on"

http://quiltmashup.com/index.php/topic,67.msg958.html#msg958

if that helps.
I'm getting the hang of this forum, but haven't had the time to explore the other topics to any great extent. Now I'm spending more time at the keyboard.  Better get back to the machine.

Your going to need to learn how to use a photo editing pgm to reduce the image 'quality'... not necessarily the size. Did you see the size of mine? The quality was reduced.

sometimes your email software will let you do it.. othewise see what came with your camera or your computer..  It's a LEARNING opportunity!

If your photo is too big to fit in the post, here's how to fix it:

http://www.picnik.com/

Here's how you do it:

1. Go to http://www.picnik.com/

2. Click the GET STARTED NOW button.

3. Click the UPLOAD A PHOTO button. Or try the DEMO PHOTO to try it out.

4. Select the photo you want from the popup and click OPEN.

5. When you see your photo, click the RESIZE button.

6. In the NEW DIMENSIONS box, make it about 500 wide or less and click OK.

7. You will see your photo resized. Now click the SAVE & SHARE tab.

8. Check that the "File size" is under 110 KB; it is listed to the left of your photo just above the "Save Photo" button. If not you can reduce the JPG COMPRESSION to 6 or 7 and check the size again. If that is still too big, go back and further reduce the size dimensions of the photo.

9. If everything looks good click SAVE PHOTO to your computer.

10. Then log in to QuiltMashUp and add your photo to your post as described here http://quiltmashup.com/index.php/topic,122.msg962.html#msg962

How do you know what the file size is?

If you use Picnik, the size is listed to the left of your photo just above the "Save Photo" button.

If you are just checking any photo you have, right click on it and select 'Properties' and look for file size.
