What does "traveling" mean for machine quilting?  I hadn't heard that term before.
Travelling is when you back track sewing over top of your stitches to move to another place and continue quilting.  This cuts down on having starts and stops all over your quilt.  So you don't have to do the tiny stitches or locking stitches or cut and sew in the thread ends (if that is what you do).

I now tend to knot and sew in my thread ends especially if I'm using rayon threads.  In the beginning I wasn't starting and stopping properly and did an entire quilt.  Now the thread ends are coming out.  Thank goodness it's my quilt and not one I gave away.   Sad

Thank you for that info, Judee.  It's very educational!  I do try to minimize having to stop and cut threads when I'm quilting on my George.
